Choosing Flotation Devices for Your Next Outdoor Swim Party

Flotation devices are available in as many styles and types as there are swimming pools. These devices range in size from large island lounges serving many people, to small, one-person swim rings. This article provides great ideas for your next outdoor pool party.

Pool lounge chairs allow you to work on your tan as you float in the pool. Imagine staying dry as you peacefully float around the pool on these oversized, inflatable lounge chairs. In order to shade you from the sun as you drink your favorite drink, more expensive lounges have built-in shades and cup holders. Available in a variety of sizes and styles, each water lounge chair is designed for ultimate comfort.

A lounging float that is fully cushioned is the better lounge style. This type of lounge features actual cushioned seats as well as backrests, the same as any ordinary standard lounge chair. They are placed upon huge pontoons, which allow them to float on the water. Most of these lounge chairs include pillow areas at the head so you can fall asleep while lazily drifting.

If what you’d like to do on a hot day is to lie around in the pool, but remain immersed in the cool refreshing water, it’s a good idea to choose a water hammock. Your knees and head are supported by two cylindrical floats when you use a water hammock. Your body is entirely covered by water as the hammock, made of a mesh material, droops comfortably into the pool. These lounges let you stretch out and relax in the pool without drowning.

Floaties that are doughnut shaped, or swim rings, are the cheapest pool flotation devices to purchase. These rings serve many purposes and are especially useful for small pools, or large pools with many people.

If you have a big pool then island floats are your best option. These flotation lounges are usually large and round, with cushions and cup holders spaced around the rim. Most of these islands have an opening in the middle, allowing swimmers to come up from below and visit with family and friends. For gatherings that are large, and especially large pool parties where snacks must be served, these floating islands work great.

While on the subject of snacks, it’s a great idea to use refreshment floats as a way of offering food and drinks to your pool party guests. Carrying drinks and snacks for the enjoyment of your quests while swimming and visiting in the water, these floats are essentially serving trays that float freely about the pool.
